Wednesday at One Recitals

Wednesday at One is a popular weekly lunchtime recital series, from 1.10 pm till 2 pm each Wednesday in St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, 373 Manchester Street, Christchurch.

A light lunch is available before each concert. A wide range of performers is featured, in a superb acoustic, often using the Steinway concert grand piano, or the 4 manual Rodgers Infinity Platinum hybrid pipe /digital organ.

Groups range in size from small chamber ensembles to full symphonic orchestras, with a particular focus on encouraging young performers, and inviting citizens to be welcomed into the central city Catholic church.

Lunch With A Steinway Inaugural Wednesday Recital Series 2013

This pilot event was undertaken to determine the viability of presenting a regular recital series through 2014 in St Mary’s Catholic Pro-Cathedral. Financial support was provided by Creative New Zealand. Light lunch options were available from 12.45 pm, organised by members of the Catholic Women’s League, who raise money for the missions. Admission was by programme donation of $10 and $5. Proceeds were designated for a set of music rooms for the Cathedral Choir and Orchestra. Consecutively, audiences numbered 50+, 70+, 80+ and 50+.
